No oats breakfast is the porridge bowl for anyone who misses oatmeal. Walnuts, pecans and flax get blended coarse to mimic oats, then cooked with custard-thick eggs, banana and almond butter. Warm, spiced and topped with berries — it scratches the oatmeal itch completely.

Pro Tips

  • Pulse the walnuts, pecans and flax only until coarse — you want an oat-like texture, not nut butter.
  • Whisk the eggs and almond milk until as thick as custard before cooking; that step is what gives the bowl its porridge body.
  • Blend the mashed banana and almond butter together separately so the banana smooths out completely into the base.
  • Warm the mixture about 5 minutes on the stove, stirring frequently — it thickens fast and catches on the bottom if left alone.
  • Garnish with fresh berries right before serving to cut the richness of the nuts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this really taste like oatmeal?

It's the closest paleo version out there — the blended nuts and flax give the same warm, spoonable porridge feel, with cinnamon and ginger doing the oatmeal flavor work.

Is it nut-free?

No — walnuts, pecans and almond butter are all central. For a seed-based version, sunflower and pumpkin seeds are the natural swap, though the flavor changes noticeably.

Can I make it ahead of time?

It's best fresh and hot — 15 minutes start to finish. The nut-and-flax mix can be blended in a jar ahead to make mornings faster.

How filling is it?

Very — the nuts, flax and three eggs make it a high-fat, high-protein breakfast that carries you well past mid-morning.
