Savory Salmon Curry – savory salmon curry

Savory salmon curry is a five-minute-prep oven dinner that smells incredible for hours. Salmon fillets bake under a spiced coating of garam masala, cinnamon, ginger, and garlic, with just enough honey to round out the curry. Make it mild or dial the spice up — the choice is entirely yours.

Savory Salmon Curry

Want this dish mild or super spiced-up? The choice is yours! That is the beauty of this sensational savory salmon. The ginger and garlic boost the delightful scent of the spicy curry, and linger deliciously for hours after you prepare this divine dish. A little sweetness from the honey and cinnamon complement the savory flavors wonderfully!
Serves 4

4 salmon fillets
11⁄2 tablespoons (30 ml) canola oil
11⁄2 teaspoons (10 ml) garam masala
1 teaspoon (5 ml) raw organic honey
1⁄2 teaspoon (10 ml) cinnamon
1⁄2 teaspoon (10 ml) ground ginger
1⁄4 teaspoon (20 ml) garlic powder

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Prepare a baking pan with cooking spray, and add the salmon fillets.
  2. Combine all other ingredients, mixing until evenly combined. Coat mixture evenly over salmon fillets, and bake until the fish is flaky when touched with a fork, about 15 minutes.

Pro Tips

  • Mix the oil and spice coating until it's a smooth paste — an even coat on every fillet is what gives you that fragrant crust.
  • Bake at 450°F for about 15 minutes until the fish flakes easily with a fork; higher heat keeps the fillets moist while the spices toast.
  • Garam masala and cinnamon do the aromatic heavy lifting, while the ground ginger and garlic linger beautifully in the kitchen.
  • The teaspoon of honey is small but essential — it balances the savory curry without making the dish sweet.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make this curry spicier?

Add cayenne or a pinch of chili flakes to the coating mixture. The base recipe is gently spiced, so there's plenty of room to turn up the heat.

Can I use frozen salmon fillets?

Yes — thaw them fully and pat them dry first so the curry coating sticks instead of sliding off icy fish.

How long does it keep?

Up to 2 days in the fridge. It's excellent cold over greens the next day, flaked into a salad.

What should I serve with it?

Cauliflower rice or roasted vegetables soak up the spiced pan juices beautifully.
