Apple and Pear Sauce

4 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and diced

4 ripe pears, peeled, cored and diced

Вј cup water

Juice of 1 lemon

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  1. Place all the ingredients in a medium-size saucepan over medium-high heat, and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, until the apples and pears are soft.
  3. Using an immersion blender, a regular blender or a food processor, puree the mixture until no lumps remain.
  4. Place in the refrigerator or the freezer to cool, but do not let the Apple and Pear Sauce freeze. Serve chilled.

NOTE: You can use any kind of apples you’d like for this recipe, but I personally love the tartness of Granny Smith apples.
