Apple and Pear Sauce
4 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and diced
4 ripe pears, peeled, cored and diced
Вј cup water
Juice of 1 lemon
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- Place all the ingredients in a medium-size saucepan over medium-high heat, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, until the apples and pears are soft.
- Using an immersion blender, a regular blender or a food processor, puree the mixture until no lumps remain.
- Place in the refrigerator or the freezer to cool, but do not let the Apple and Pear Sauce freeze. Serve chilled.
NOTE: You can use any kind of apples you’d like for this recipe, but I personally love the tartness of Granny Smith apples.
