Broccoli Ham and Pepper Frittata – broccoli ham and pepper frittata

Broccoli ham and pepper frittata is a hearty, layered egg bake that slices like a proper brunch centerpiece. Green peppers, diced ham, and frozen broccoli stack in a buttered pan, then soak in a cheddar-and-half-and-half custard and steam in the Instant Pot. Just 7g net carbs and 28g protein per slice.

Broccoli Ham and Pepper Frittata

(Total Time: 35 MIN| Serves: 4)

Ingredients:
2 tbsp. Butter
1 cup (240 ml) Green Bell Peppers (sliced)
8 ounces Ham (diced)
2 cups (480 ml) Broccoli (frozen)
4 Eggs
1 tsp Salt
1 cup (240 ml) Half & Half
2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
1 cup (240 ml) Cheddar Cheese (grated)

Directions:

  1. Grease a 6x3 inch pan with butter, making sure that all corners are well buttered.
  2. Layer the green bell peppers, then ham, then broccoli in the pan.
  3. Place eggs and salt in a bowl and whisk well. Add the half & half, pepper and cheddar, and stir well to combine.
  4. Pour the eggs mixture into the pan over other ingredients, and cover with a silicone lid or tin foil.
  5. Pour two cups of water in the inner liner of Instant Pot. Place a steamer insert in it and then the pan.
  6. Place and lock the lid, and manually set the cooking time to 20 minutes.
  7. When done let naturally release the pressure for 10 minutes and then quick release it.
  8. Remove the pan from Instant Pot, uncover and leave to rest for 10 minutes.
  9. Tip over on a serving platter and serve.

Pro Tips

  • Layer the peppers, then ham, then broccoli in the pan before pouring the egg mixture — the layered structure is what gives each slice its look.
  • Grease every corner of the pan well with butter so the frittata releases cleanly when you tip it onto the platter.
  • Whisk the eggs and salt thoroughly before adding the half & half and cheddar; a smooth custard means an even set throughout.
  • Let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then rest the uncovered frittata another 10 — rushing either step makes it weep and crumble.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this frittata ahead?

Yes — it keeps 4 days in the fridge and tastes great cold or gently rewarmed, making it ideal breakfast meal prep.

Can I use fresh broccoli?

Yes — chop it small and steam-blanch it briefly first, since frozen broccoli is already partially cooked and softens faster.

Is it keto?

At 7g net carbs with 28g protein per serving, it fits comfortably into a keto or low-carb day.

How do I get clean slices?

Cool the frittata fully before cutting, and use a sharp knife. The rest time after cooking is what firms the custard.
