These sweet and fiery pan-fried figs are an addictive treat that is so easy to pop in your mouth! Figs are valuable ingredients in any dish; they are high in fiber and potassium and can curb sugar cravings with their rich, sweet flavor. In this recipe, the sweet fig and honey blend deliciously with the sultriness of the Sriracha, as well as with the kick from the cinnamon and ginger combination. In addition to being a perfect snack, this recipe works well as a salad topping or dessert.
Yields 16 fig bites
• 1 tablespoon coconut oil
• 1tablespoon raw organic honey
• 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce
• 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1⁄2 teaspoon ground ginger
• 8 fresh figs, halved
• 1 batch Sweet and Spicy Dipping Sauce
1. In a medium skillet, melt the coconut oil over medium heat. Add honey, Sriracha, cinnamon, and ginger and mix with a wooden spoon until well blended. Let mixture sit on heat until it starts to simmer. Turn heat to medium-high heat if necessary, but be cautious of the honey burning.
2. Place fig halves, flesh side down, into bubbling honey mixture, moving them around in the pan occasionally. Let them pan fry for about 5–7 minutes, or until figs start to brown and caramelize.
3. Serve this snack warm with or without Sweet and Spicy Dipping Sauce.
