This recipe couldn’t be simpler, but sometimes the simplest things yield the best results. Choose brats or similar sausages you really like, because they flavor the whole pot. Also, adding a few forkfuls of sauerkraut on each serving is a must!
Prep time 10 minutes
11/2 pounds (680 g) brat-style sausages
1 green bell pepper
2 red, orange, or yellow bell peppers
1 large onion
4 tablespoons (60 ml) melted Homemade Ghee
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Sauerkraut, for serving
1 Slice the sausage into 1/2-inch (1 cm) rounds. Slice the peppers and onions into 1/4-inch (6 mm) strips.
2 Place the sausage, peppers, and melted ghee into a 3-quart (2.8 liter) slow cooker. Sprinkle with salt.
3 Cover and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours (or on high for 11/2 to 2 hours).
4 Serve with sauerkraut.
